Composite Doors

“What are Composite Doors?”

Composite doors are one of the most popular solutions used in the UK for front and back entrances to homes. They come in many forms of ‘build ups’ of timber or GRP, but are typically more robust and secure than uPVC entrance doors. The biggest advantage seen by consumers when considering a new door, is that composites are low maintenance and do not require any form of painting on a regular basis like the traditional timber doors.

“What type of Composite, is best for me?”

Everyone is different when it comes to considering the different build ups of doors. Each brand and material core has its own advantages compared to the others, leaving it to you to decide what you want to achieve with your new door.

GRP is made up of a Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) 44mm core which is a almost hardened foam material in the centre of the door slab. The surround is a GRP skin with a painted finish typically with a woodgrain affect.

Timber is made up of a timber 44-48mm core which gives a strong durable centre to your door slab. The face finish is a ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) skin which is a colour through material, to give added protection against wear and tear so knocks and scratches are less likely to show.
